TABC’s AP Art History class spent Wednesday morning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, getting a chance to see examples of the works of art they have been studying all year. It was a whirlwind tour of many galleries, including the ancient Near East, Egypt, Islamic and European paintings. A highlight of the trip was the Met’s special exhibition, “Michelangelo: Divine Draftsman and Designer,” featuring 133 of Michelangelo’s drawings, including studies for the figures on the Sistine Chapel ceiling (one of the 250 works of art that make up the course curriculum) and a simulation of the Sistine Chapel ceiling on the ceiling of the exhibition gallery.
