(Courtesy of TABC) TABC was privileged to welcome a beautiful new Torah last Friday in a festive and meaningful Hachnassat Sefer Torah celebration. The Torah was generously dedicated by Iris and Elie Borger and family in honor of their parents and as part of their son Ami’s bar mitzvah weekend. The sofer was on hand to finish the actual writing of the sefer Torah in the TABC beit midrash, allowing family members, friends and faculty the opportunity to assist in completing this milestone mitzvah. Once completed, the sefer Torah was brought to the gym, where TABC’s students, joined by family and friends of the Borger family, as well as Ami’s seventh-grade classmates at Yeshivat Noam, were addressed by TABC Head of School Rabbi Shlomo Stochel and Mr. Borger. The simcha kept rolling with live music and leibedik dancing under the chuppah as the crowd danced along with the other TABC sifrei Torah. The event concluded with a special pre-Shabbat seudah of kugel and chulent. It was a wonderful way to usher in the Shabbat during which Ami Borger was called to the newly completed Torah as a bar mitzvah. TABC was thrilled to mark this milestone with the Borger family and looks forward to playing a small part in the life of this Torah, which will undoubtedly play a special role in the future of the Borger family and klal Yisrael.
