TABC’s Matmidim program, a voluntary daily shiur and chavrusa time for seniors, gives talmidim an additional opportunity to learn gemara on a high level. The program, led by Rav Sariel Malitzky, is intended to further prepare the talmidim for the highest caliber yeshivot in Israel. The 18 members of Matmidim are made up of students from different levels of learning coming together to grow in their learning and connection to Hashem.
While every day in the shiur is special, the year ended with two unique events, both of which were intended to expand the student’s Torah horizons. The first was a day of visiting local Torah institutions, beginning with Yeshiva University. There they learned in the beit midrash, heard a shmooze from SBMP Mashgiach Ruchani Rav Ciment and a shiur from Rav Rosensweig, one of YU’s preeminent Roshei HaYeshiva.
The group then visited the Telshe yeshiva in Riverdale and heard from Rav Ausband, the Rosh HaYeshiva.
Finally, they heard a shiur from SAR high school’s principal (and TABC parent) Rav Harczstark.
The second end-of-year program was the Matmidim shabbaton at Rabbi Malitzky’s home in Passaic. The talmidim went to different shuls in the area for each of the tefilot and gained insight into the diversity of the community. Over the course of Shabbos the boys heard from various speakers, including Rav Pesach Skulnick of Heichal Hatorah and TABC’s own Rabbi Scott Freidman. It was a Shabbat full of learning and very lively zemirot, a perfect culmination of another year of inspiring talmud Torah.
