There’s a new shop in town for expert tailoring. Fabian Cabrejo, the skilled designer behind The Kingsman Tailor Shop, brings decades of experience, meticulous attention to detail and unmatched personal service to his customers.
Located at 202 The Plaza, Teaneck, The Kingsman Tailor Shop offers a wide range of services, from hemming casual pants to altering intricate wedding dresses. With a career rooted in tradition and passion, Cabrejo started learning tailoring at the age of 18 in his hometown of Bogotá, Colombia. Inspired by the women in his family who loved sewing, Cabrejo’s skills quickly blossomed. Together with his mother, he opened a textile factory, where he blended tailoring expertise with his education in marketing and graphic design.
After moving to the U.S. five years ago, Cabrejo worked with some of the industry’s most prestigious names, including Neiman Marcus in New Jersey, Brooks Brothers in Manhattan, and David’s Bridal. Along the way, he developed a reputation for precision and creativity, even working on garments for celebrities like Barbara Corcoran of “Shark Tank.”
One of his most memorable projects involved tailoring a custom suit jacket for Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, which was worn to President Trump’s inauguration. “The art of alteration is creating a piece that’s meant for everybody and tailoring it uniquely for a specific person so they feel it was made just for them,” Cabrejo said.
During Pesach last year, Naomi Klinger, also known as “The Suit Lady,” called upon Cabrejo for help during a busy season. Impressed with his skill, she began referring clients to him for tailoring.
Local customers sing his praises. Teaneck resident Bracha Mazin shared, “I used The Kingsman Tailor Shop to fix my son’s pants. He did a fantastic job and they were ready on time.”
Cabrejo’s son, Andres, manages reception and sees his father’s dedication daily. “My father is determined to make every customer happy. He’ll work all day on a piece if he has to,” Andres said proudly.
During an interview with The Jewish Link held at the shop, a woman arrived with her daughter to alter a dress for a wedding. The dress needed a longer hem and a lined top to cover the neckline. She also brought two matching dresses for extra fabric. Cabrejo carefully ensured the patterns aligned seamlessly, a hallmark of his work ethic.
Cabrejo is known for his dedication to the Orthodox Jewish community, often going above and beyond to meet their specific needs. For example, he once delivered clothing to a shomer Shabbat customer on Saturday, knowing she couldn’t drive to pick it up herself. His generosity and honesty are equally apparent. When a client asked him to repair a small section of piping on her dress, he noticed all the piping needed attention. He fixed the entire dress but charged only the originally-agreed-upon amount.
“I love the world of clothing because I can give garments another chance if they need to be repaired or altered,” Cabrejo shared. His passion for his craft is evident in every stitch.
The Kingsman Tailor Shop’s name was inspired by the movie “Kingsman,” a nod to Cabrejo’s appreciation for its elegance and timeless style. In addition to alterations, the shop offers leather repair services, zipper replacements, and even custom-made clothing.
The shop is open Tuesday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. From small alterations to custom-made designs, Fabian Cabrejo is ready to share his creativity and expertise with the community.
