In honor of Shelly’s Vegetarian Cafe and Caterers’ milestone anniversary, a section of Cedar Lane has been renamed Shelly’s Way. The Teaneck restaurant has been serving the community for 25 years, and the name change is only part of a larger celebration marking the occasion. Already visible on the street are signs marking the dedication.
The name change is the work of Noam Sokolow. Approaching Teaneck’s town council with the idea, the resolution was passed and the new name put into effect. Speaking with The Jewish Link, Sokolow discussed the change and detailed the exciting other aspects of the campaign marking the restaurant’s anniversary.
“The name change is the way the Township of Teaneck is recognizing Shelly’s Café for our community service and involvement to benefit the township and people of Teaneck over the past 25 years,” Sokolow shared. “We will be launching several campaigns in the next few months to thank all who have helped get us to this point and of course welcome those who have yet to experience all that Shelly’s has to offer. While many are very familiar with our award-winning Sunday Brunch, Tuesday Dinner Buffets, Nine Days Special Menu, and of course Shelly’s famous mozzarella sticks and macaroni and cheese, Shelly’s also offers much more. Brissim, sheva brachot, Shavuot and pre-Yom Kippur takeout, luncheon platters, delivery service, kiddushim, and of course the freshest fish available daily.”
Shelly’s is a dairy restaurant known for its fish and pasta dishes. For Shelly Sokolow herself, the owner and namesake of the restaurant, the privilege of having part of Cedar Lane named in her honor marks an exciting chapter of the store’s history.
“Our mission has always been to provide outstanding customer service and to give back to our community,” Shelly shared with The Jewish Link. “We really need to thank our customers for keeping Shelly’s the number-one dairy restaurant in town. We could not have achieved this success without their patronage. A special appreciation to all of our regulars who believe in us enough to come back time and time again. Thank you for 25 years of warmth, friendship and support. Of course our incredible staff deserves all the credit. Thank you for every day stepping up to the plate and knocking it out of the ballpark”
In addition to the name change, the campaign will also include deals for patrons.
“To encourage all to get involved [in the celebration of the milestone], we will be offering all those who take a photograph of themselves in front of either of the new Shelly’s Way signs, and then post and tag us on Facebook and Instagram (@shellysteaneck), 25% off—up to $100 off—their next purchase,” Noam added. “In addition, all who do so and tag 10 friends will be included in a raffle with a chance to win several amazing giveaways.”
Shelly’s is located at 482 Shelly’s Way and is open Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. On Sunday they are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. To learn more about the campaign, reach out to the Shelly’s team at (201) 692-0001 or [email protected].
