Teaneck Baseball Organization’s (TBO) 8-and-under (8U) team finished out their season this past week in the Northeast Bergen All Stars (NEBAS) travel league summer season. NEBAS’ 8U level featured 26 teams from towns across Bergen County, split into two divisions approximating an “upper” and “lower” level. While TBO’s 8U team didn’t qualify for the playoffs, they finished seventh in the “upper” division, with hard fought contests against some of the best teams in Bergen County.
Coached by Moshe Gelbtuch, Danny Weinstein and Jason Demby, the team started off the season slow, with TBO’s strong pitching and defense not enough to offset an anemic offense. However, the offense came alive mid-season, aided by usage of TBO’s brand-new pitching machine and batting cage, as well as a special guest coach hitting session from TABC Head Coach David Greenberg.
Overall, the team saw vast improvement up and down the roster as the season progressed. Special shoutouts to Zevy Bluman, who was a defensive star and team leader before an injury ended his season early; Josh Gelbtuch, who led the team in hitting; and Noah Kaufthal, Nathan Demby and Judah Last, who all made major contributions throughout the season.
