This week, TCA fourth graders held a Country Fair, which was a culmination of nearly eight weeks of research, note-taking, writing, revising, organizing and planning. Each student was assigned a specific country and spent time each week learning about their chosen country as they developed their research and note-taking skills. The children had to complete an outline, adhere to mini-deadlines along the way, rewrite their notes and outlines into a written report, print and organize information and create a three-panel visual presentation. They also created travel brochures which highlighted important facts and places to visit. Many students dressed in outfits and brought in food items that represented the culture of their specific country.

They then invited the third graders to view the projects and provided visitors with fact sheets to complete as they walked through the fair. This gave the fourth graders the opportunity to talk about their country, and the third graders not only learned something from their upper-grade schoolmates, but they got a sneak peek into what they have to look forward to next year.
