TCA Middle School Takes Pre-Pesach Visit to Brightview Senior Living Community

On Tuesday, March 19, the seventh and eighth graders of Tenafly Chabad Academy had the privilege of going to visit the residents of Brightview Senior Living Community in Tenafly. The students prepared for the visit by writing divrei Torah, making posters and learning how to play Passover songs on the piano. After sharing some background with the residents about the holiday of Pesach, the students sang the steps of the Seder to musical accompaniment by one of the seventh grade girls. Each student then presented and explained the steps of the Seder, culminating in a sing-along of Dayenu. Two eighth grade girls shared insightful words of Torah about the various parts of the Haggadah. As one of the seventh grade boys played along on the piano and one of the directors joined him on the violin, the students sang several Jewish songs and danced with the residents. They ended their visit with an emotional rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.” As one of the students put it after the visit,“That was so much fun! Can we do it again?” This joy was mutually felt by the resident and students. They are looking forward to their next visit with the Brightview residents later in the spring.
