Teaneck/Bergenfield Purim Costume Gemach To Open at Keter Torah

The Teaneck/Bergenfield Costume Gemach began in 2015 in memory of Farvish Hirsch Ben Shmuel Leib. After noticing Facebook posts and Teaneck shul emails asking to either borrow or lend a specific costume for Purim, Sarah Savestesky and Rivki Rosenthal decided to start the Costume Gemach. This allows families “new to you” costumes each year without spending more money. The gemach began by collecting 50 gently used costumes, cleaning and organizing them and then lending them out to the community. While it started with just 50 costumes, the gemach has grown to offering over 1500 costumes. All monies donated are used to purchase new costumes for the following year.

All costumes are free to borrow. A $5 donation is requested but not required. A $10 deposit per costume will be refunded when returned.

The gemach will be open at Keter Torah (600 Roemer Ave) on Sunday February 16 from 10 a.m.-1p.m. Feel free to donate used costumes by emailing [email protected] or texting 201-923-7622.
