Larry Bauer, president of the Chamber said: “The Teaneck Chamber of Commerce, through our tagline that is a core part of our identity, is all about bringing business, community and government together. We see the Chamber’s role as being there to be connected to the community—not only the business community, but the entirety of Teaneck —and strive every day to make Teaneck a better place for all her citizens. When Jennifer Glass suggested the idea of a wishing tree in 2021, we knew that it was a great idea that the community can get behind and we saw that when it was announced at this evening’s Candidate Forum when several of those in attendance—from some of the candidates to those in the audience expressed their interest in participating.”
Glass, vice president of the Chamber said: “With the increasing economic uncertainty, inflation, lingering COVID concerns and rising costs all around, many people may be in a tougher spot this year than in years past when it comes to providing gifts and necessities for their children. We wanted to make a difference in these families’ lives and have decided to launch this campaign to help make the holiday season a bit brighter.”
The Teaneck Chamber of Commerce Wishing Tree program will unite Teaneck residents and their Elves/Maccabees to help match up some of those gifts with the needy families. Each gift will be up to $25, and we’ll strive to match all requests until funds are exhausted.
