Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Ari Rosenberg

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 17-year-old Ari Rosenberg as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Frisch rising senior is just coming off a tremendous season for the Cougars baseball team. As a junior, and team captain, he pitched every inning of every one of Frisch’s playoff games to lead them to the championship. He gave up five runs in three games, including allowing only one run in the Frisch’s championship victory over Kushner. He also had several big hits, including a long double to centerfield to cement the team’s semifinal win over TABC. It was truly an amazing performance, leading Frisch—the lowest seed team—to become the upset MYHSAL champions.

Ari, congratulations on a tremendous season — and happy birthday this week! I know you have many great influences in your life but if you had to select one, who would you say is your role model and why?

My father, because he taught me how to play every sport I know.

Who is your favorite professional athlete?

Kobe Bryant, because he never gave up if he was losing and played till the end.

What is your earliest sports memory?

Winning the championship in first grade softball.

What is your most dramatic sports memory?

Colliding with another fielder and making the catch to win the championship.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Looking back on my accomplishments and realizing all the work that was put in to get here.

The Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week will receive a $15 gift at the Teaneck Doghouse. Please send nominees for an upcoming Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week to [email protected].
