The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize seven-year-old Arielle Fleischman as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Fleischman is a second grader at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey and played a key role in her MGBL team Triumph Hotels’ victory the other week. PressONE.net – Voice & Internet was up most of the game, but in a league where every basket is important, Fleischman nailed two huge shots, giving Triumph Hotels an exciting win. When asked about his daughter’s game, Dr. Jacky Fleischman told the JLNJ, “Arielle always plays hard and shows very good sportsmanship.”
Arielle, congrats on a great win and for always displaying great sportsmanship. If you had to pick one person. who is your role model and why?
My Abba, because he always takes time to teach me basketball.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment so far?
Scoring two baskets to help my team win our last MGBL game.
Who is your favorite athlete, and why?
My older brother Yosef, because he is good at sports and helps me practice to get better.
What is your pre-game routine, if you have one?
Eat a good breakfast and practice.
What is your earliest sport memory?
Not being able to dribble very well.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you while playing basketball?
Getting passed the ball when I wasn’t looking and getting hit in the nose.
What is your favorite sports memory?
Watching my team jump and cheer when I made a basket.
What is the best thing about being a sportstar?
To always remember to be a good sport and play fairly.
