The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 16-year-old Benny Attar as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The rising junior at Yeshivat Frisch was a key cog in the Cougars JV soccer championship team. Coach Marc Zharnest told the JLNJ, “Benny was a pleasure to coach both on and off the court, he has truly improved his game in every facet, and I can tell you without a doubt, was a major contributor on our championship run, he embraced any role given, led on the court and will be someone I will miss.”
Benny, congrats on the soccer championship. Who are your role models and why?
My role models are my teammates this past season. They push me everyday to be the man I am today. I would never be able to accomplish the things I have done without them.
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is soccer.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
My greatest sports accomplishment was winning the soccer championship with Frisch this year.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
My favorite athlete is Ronaldo, his hard work and dedication is inspiring, and I love his play style.
What is your pregame routine, if you have one?
My pregame routine is to listen to music, start stretching an hour in advance and to talk to my coach about the game plan.
What is your earliest sport memory?
My earliest sports memory is growing up in Brazil playing soccer. I’ve been playing since I was 3 or 4 years old.
What is your favorite sports memory?
My favorite sports memory is celebrating the championship win with my teammates. We were a great group of guys that worked hard all season to win, so we were extremely happy it all paid off.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
My favorite thing to do when not playing sports is to resell sneakers and clothing.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
Representing Frisch soccer.
