The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 14-year-old Caleb Wolin as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County eighth grader is coming off a terrific season as the ace pitcher for the TBO 14U travel team. One of Caleb’s coaches told the JLNJ “He’s a fantastic kid and pitched an absolute gem in that playoff game.”
Caleb, congrats on a great season. If you had to pick one person, who is your role model, and why?
My role model is current player Isaiah Thomas, because he shows that height doesn’t matter.

My favorite athlete is Didi Gregorius.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment, so far?
My greatest sports accomplishment was scoring 30 points in a game.
What is your pre-game routine, if you have one?
I like to stretch and either shoot around or throw a ball around before a game.
What is your earliest sport memory?
My earliest sports memory is hitting a homerun in a TBO game when I was around seven.
What is your favorite sports memory?
Favorite sports memory was winning a championship with TBO in Fall 2015.
What do you like to do when not playing sports?
When I’m not playing sports I’m either watching sports, playing video games or hanging out with friends.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
I think the best thing about being a Sportstar is that I know I’m pretty good but I need to get better.
