Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Elliot Eisner

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 17-year-old Elliot Eisner as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Frisch junior is coming off of a varsity hockey championship win and the prestigious Last Man Standing award at the Semmelman All-Star game 2019. During the yeshiva league playoffs, he sealed the deal with an overtime shorthanded goal to win the championship. When asked about Eisner, Frisch hockey coach Yaakov Lisker told the JLNJ, “One of the reasons I believe Elliot is so successful and has grown into the player he is, is that he takes every practice, whether it be scrimmage or drill, as seriously as he takes a game. As a coach it is infinitely valuable to have a player who you know will give maximum effort every single shift. If one were to create the ideal yeshiva hockey player—sportsmanship, coachable, team player, passion, speed, skills (passing, shooting, stick handling), court vision, hockey IQ, tenacity—you pretty much would end up with a clone of Elliot. He’s just on a different level than 99% of players. He’s so fast that he’ll make three moves while a defender is still trying to adjust to the first one.”
