The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 11-year-old Ettie Greenberg as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The sixth grader at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey enjoys many sports and being a part of the team in whatever sport she is playing. She works hard to excel in all sports and will not stop until she perfects whatever skill she is working on. Greenberg’s MGBL coach Dr. Fleischman told the JLNJ, “She always plays really hard, no matter the score. She is mentally tough and does not complain.”
Etti, congratulations on another great MGBL season. Who is your role model and why?
My grandfather, because he loves playing so many different sports and teaches me how to be the best player possible in whatever sport I play.
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is softball because I enjoy pitching and being a part of the team.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Striking out the other team three innings in a row in softball.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Stephen Curry because he is an all-around good basketball player and always makes hard shots.
What is your earliest sport memory?
Playing basketball with my three older brothers
What is your weirdest sports memory?
When the team I was playing against in basketball got a technical foul for having too many players on the court.
What is your favorite sports memory?
When I went to a hockey game with my grandfather and I got five hockey pucks and high fived the players on the other team.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
I enjoy gymnastics and hanging out with my friends.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
Being a part of great teams and great leagues.
