The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 12-year-old Yoni Wilk as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Clifton Cheder sixth grader just completed a terrific season for the Network Doctors in the Mitch Gross Basketball League. Yoni lead the team in scoring and rebounding all season. When asked about Yoni, Coach Rabbi Aharon Ciment told the JLNJ “I have seen Yoni’s transformation as a basketball player as he has been playing with my son on MGBL for years. He is absolutely fantastic as a ball player and comes from great genes as a person!!!”
Yoni, yasher koach on another great MGBL season. If you had to pick one influence in your life, who would you say is your role model?
My father because he works hard for our family but always tries his best to come see my games and cheer me on. He encourages me to try my hardest and spends time practicing and playing with me to help improve my skills.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Being awarded MVP at Camp Kaylie summer of 2017.
Who is your favorite professional athlete?
Stephen Curry, because he’s a nice person and worked really hard to develop and perfect his skills, to become a really great basketball player.
What is your earliest sports memory?
The first time I got a touchdown in school.
What is your favorite sports memory?
When I scored 28 out of 57 points in an MGBL basketball game.
What are some of your favorite things to do when you are not playing ball?
Play the Ukulele, ride my scooter, play Madden Mobile and spend time with my family.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
Getting complimented for my hard work and skills.
