The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 12-year-old Zach Mizrahi as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The seventh grader at Yeshivat He’Atid was a key contributor on Team Peru of the Teaneck Junior Soccer League. Mizrahi and his team finished their almost perfect season undefeated at 7-0-1. Mizrahi helped seal the deal with a hat trick in the team’s final regular season game.
Zach, congratulations on a great season for you and team Peru. Who are your role models and why?
My mom and dad because they are always there for me.
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is basketball.
What is your favorite sports memory?
Getting to go to FC Barcelona’s quarter final champions league soccer game at Camp Nou in Barcelona.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Winning the FC Teaneck championship.
Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
Kyrie Irving, from the Boston Celtics, because I love to watch his highlights.
What is your pregame routine?
I stretch and warm up.
What is your earliest sport memory?
My first New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.
What is the weirdest sports related thing that has happened to you?
Going to see the Harlem Globetrotters, I didn’t understand what they were doing since they were breaking all of the basketball rules.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
When not playing ball I like to watching TV and hang out with my friends.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
It’s a great accomplishment.
