The Teaneck Farmers’ Market is here. It’s a fresh season of terrific Thursdays. The winter months were enough to make anyone scream, “No more cold!” But now the Teaneck Farmers’ Market has started and we want everyone to know—we’re open Thursday afternoons with fresh produce and wonderful gourmet treats. The market is located in the Garrison Avenue and Beverly Road free municipal parking lot, at the back of Wells Fargo Bank. Our hours are noon to 6 p.m. If you park on the street, park towards Garrison Avenue but not towards Windsor Road, because it’s illegal on Thursdays.
A tour of some participants: Sunden’s Stone Pointe Farm, with Richard, the farmer, and assistants, Kerry and Herman, are here with quality fresh produce, flowers, plants, herbs, eggs and seasonal specials. Stoltzfus Produce, with farmer Melvin and his Amish team arrive this Thursday with their delicious selection from their farm. Teaneck’s own Pickle Licious, with a team of vendors, John, Frank and Tony, has a variety of pickles, olives, tapenades, sundried tomatoes and other marinated delights. Don’t you love the little kids eating a pickle on a stick? They also ship nationwide.
Teaneck’s NJ Bees is back with local honey and other bee products. Zev is helping Danny this year. Beekeeper Danny will be sharing his beekeeping knowledge with some workshops during our market season, so bring your kids!
For those who want to Zumba, there will be free sessions Thursday evenings in June and September from 7–7:45, weather permitting. Located at the Chestnut Avenue Plaza on Cedar Lane, between the Provident Bank and Rochlin’s.
The Teaneck Farmers’ Market will continue its partnership with WFDU’s radio station, and we are continuing to be a partner with Teaneck’s Helping Hands and the Center For Food Action, for weekly collection of non-perishable foods to families in need. We have two containers for each group located at the manager’s table. Cans, boxed items, paper goods, no plastic or glass items. There are so many families and individuals that could benefit from these contributions, so please come by and make a contribution.
