Teaneck Farmers’ Market to Host Bloodmobile, Offers Coupon Vouchers for Seniors

The Bergen County Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program comes to the Teaneck Farmers’ Market Thursday, July 16th. Plus, the Bergen Community Services Bloodmobile will be present from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. And as always, food bins will be at the market for donations to Helping Hands and the Center for Food Action.

Senior citizens can sign up for $20 vouchers for fresh produce from the market, from Noon to 3 p.m. This will be the only time and day for Teaneck customers to sign-up at the market. Please bring proof of income (a maximum monthly income of $1,815 for one, $2,456 for 2), age (60+), and Bergen County residency. You can also download an application for the voucher at www.co.bergen.nj.us/seniorservices. If seniors can’t come to the market this Thursday, they can get coupon vouchers from Bergen County Senior Services every Tuesday in July from 9 a.m. to noon, second floor at One Bergen Plaza in Hackensack. Call 201-336-7400 for more information.

Blood donations are critical during the summer. There are shortages because so many regular donors are away – and blood saves lives. To make blood donation more convenient, the Bloodmobile will come to Teaneck. Check their site to see how you can donate your blood: www.communitybloodservice.org or call: 201-251-3703.

The market is proving to be a fantastic destination on Thursdays. Sunden Stone Pointe Farm and Stoltzfus Produce bring more seasonal produce each week. The vendors have a wide selection of ready-to-heat and serve prepared meals, and portion controlled frozen foods, just right for a busy day of making a fast meal. We have a specialty vendor, City 2 Shore Gourmet, this year that brings unique flavored imported olive oils, balsamic vinegars, both for entrees, and to top off with berries for dessert. Mo Green Juices comes on alternate Thursdays. Local Teaneck honey is available from NJ Bee’s. Try all of Hoboken Farms, items from their frozen selection, mozzarella cheese, jarred marinara and vodka sauces and artisan breads. Teaneck’s own, Picklelicious has a huge variety of pickles, olives and more. Nana’s Home Cooking grills all day, with luscious chicken kebabs, falafels, and has freshly made containers of Middle Eastern style dips and traditional pastries.

For a natural healthy treat visit Gourmet Nuts and Dried Fruits. You can sample something that might tempt your taste buds. The Amish Country Bakery travels to Teaneck each week, with their freshly baked items. Hardly anything is left at the end of the day, so come by for your favorite items. Angela Logan’s Mortgage Apple Cakes makes cupcakes, and cakes with her family’s recipes. Stella’s Empanada Argentine Grill is one of our most popular additions. Buy a few for lunch or a dozen or more in a box. You can call them to pre-order their foods too. Take a moment and try a soothing massage from the Lefkowitz Wellness Center. If you’re in an Italian mood, try the many delectable choices that Paolo’s Kitchen has to offer. They have two samples of food each week for you to try.

We have something for everyone, and feel proud of our “Terrific Thursdays” at the Garrison Avenue and Beverly Road Parking lot. Thursdays, Noon to 6 PM. Check out WFDU’s 89.1 FM station for announcements, and visit our Facebook page: www.teaneckfarmersmarket.com. Each week we do live updates at the market, so check in with us.
