Elaine Martz, who just turned 17, recently ran the Sri Chinmoy Marathon (26.2 miles). Martz was the youngest runner in the marathon, and placed third for the “20 and under” category.

Martz ran to honor the life of her youngest sister, Nettie z”l, and support the Nettie Says Organization – a not for profit organization created in honored memory of Elaine’s sister Nettie, who passed away at the age of 10. The Nettie Says Organization advocates for the full inclusion and active participation of all people of all abilities and varying abilities.

Martz is a senior at Teaneck High School. In addition to her marathon training, Elaine runs on the Teaneck High School varsity cross country team as well as the Teaneck High School varsity track team.
