Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C., Club Fit NJ and Elie Y. Katz will host the first annual “Teaneck Pounds for a Purpose” to help residents get fit while supporting a great local cause. A common New Year’s resolution to “Get Fit” will help participants shed pounds while feeding the hungry. The registration fee will go directly to Teaneck’s Helping Hands Food Pantry, which will provide food to those who cannot afford to feed their families.

“Get Fit Teaneck is a great opportunity to lose weight, get healthy, bring the community together and help an incredible and worthwhile cause,” said Elie Y. Katz, the official organizer of Get Fit Teaneck.

Registered participants will receive an official Teaneck Pounds for a Purpose Pass that will record weight loss progress. The Pounds for a Purpose Pass will also function as a discount card at participating Teaneck businesses. Weekly specials will be announced on the official Get Fit Teaneck website and Facebook pages at www.getfitteaneck.com and www.facebook.com/getfitteaneck. Registered participants can present their Pounds for a Purpose Pass to receive deals in participating local establishments. Club Fit NJ is offering participants a half- price three-month gym membership for $49.99 (a $99.00 value).

First, second and third place winners in male and female categories will be awarded a cash prize as well as other gift certificates and electronics. All of the top three winners in each category will receive a free one-year membership to Club Fit NJ. The final weight in must be calculated by April 5, 2014 at Club Fit NJ. The top three winners in each category will be determined by the highest total percentage of weight loss.

Registration is $25.00 per person. Those who wish to participate in the weight loss challenge must register online at www.getfitteaneck.com and complete an initial weigh-in at Club Fit NJ by January 8, 2013. Participants who register online must present their receipt at Club Fit NJ during the initial weigh-in. Others who wish to participate may complete their registration at Club Fit NJ and submit a $25.00 check made payable to the Helping Hands Food Pantry. All participants must either live or work in Teaneck, NJ.
