You might have noticed some pleasant new changes taking place on the corner of Queen Anne Road and The Plaza in Teaneck. A sleek white stone veneer and a brand new sign are gracing the front. But what you’ll find inside is even better—Paris Pournazari, the new owner of Teaneck’s Parkview Pharmacy.
With a warm smile and friendly hello, Paris greets her customers like family, already familiar with many of their names. “It’s a great community. I love the closeness. Everybody knows each other. It’s a great place to be. I love being involved and being a part of it.”
A veteran pharmacist, Paris spent the last seven years at a pharmacy in Cresskill before coming to Teaneck. She had been house hunting when her realtor fortuitously mentioned that her friend, David Teichman, was looking to retire and sell his pharmacy in Teaneck. Knowing Paris was a pharmacist too, she asked her if she was interested. In fact, Paris had been looking for a pharmacy of her own for well over a year. They went to check out the store and the neighborhood and Paris knew immediately that it would be the perfect fit.
Paris grew up in Vancouver, Canada. Her mother is a pediatrician, but Paris ended up following in the footsteps of her father, who is also a pharmacist. She received her B.Sc. degree from the University of British Columbia and then earned her doctorate from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, eventually making her way to New Jersey after she got married.
She is very excited and eager to meet everyone in the community and hear about all the things they would like for her to carry in Parkview Pharmacy. “Hopefully as we go along and get to know more people we would love to accommodate whatever they like.”
But just as excited as she is to meet all her new neighbors, she was struck by the warmth with which many have already greeted her to wish her good luck. “It was so great to meet all of these Jewish people. I felt like I’m at home. They were so welcoming…I didn’t feel like a stranger.” Rabbi Neuberger also stopped in to welcome Teaneck’s newest pharmacist, and Paris called him “the nicest person. He was so nice to talk to.” She said he made her feel like she is in such a great community now.
Parkview Pharmacy will now be open seven days a week and offers free delivery. “I know that Sundays are very important for the people of Teaneck, especially in that area, so now we are open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.” Monday to Friday, the pharmacy will be open from 9 a.m. to 7.pm. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The pharmacy now also offers PCR tests. “We thought it would be a great convenient service for the community,” Paris said. She also felt it would be a great way to get to meet the members of the community. Paris also plans to offer the Covid vaccine in the next month or two. Aside from all the new services and added hours, Parkview Pharmacy carries a vast selection of kosher vitamins. “We heard a lot of people were looking for kosher CBD products.” So she also added a whole section just for that.
