Teaneck Street to Be Renamed in Honor of Dre Perrin of Bespoke Men’s Grooming

On Thursday, October 22, at 5 p.m., a sign will be unveiled renaming Walraven Drive and Queen Anne Road East to “Bespoke/Dre Perrin Way.” Deputy Mayor Mark Schwartz wrote in an email that “Dre Perrin has been a decades long barber in town, grooming many young barbers. He is celebrating a milestone anniversary—20 years—and that’s why we are honoring him.”

The resolution honoring Perrin, owner of Bespoke Men’s Grooming, notes his contributions to the community by hosting educational programs on health issues, treating all his customers like VIPs, being committed to having a diverse clientele, and becoming familiar with “the restrictions and religious standards men have when it comes to hair cutting.”

Perrin is happy to be recognized for his heartfelt belief in bringing people together, and for giving jobs and opportunity to many young men. “The street naming is a blessing. It feels good to be recognized for what I’ve done for the community,” said Perrin. “No matter what your background, color or religion, everyone’s the same, everyone’s a VIP, once you’re in the door.”

Gabe Gilbert, chef of Sender’s Smoke Joint on nearby West Englewood Avenue, will be there with a table of Sender’s empanadas, chicken wings and pareve “mac and cheese” for Perrin’s family, friends, clients and supporters. “Dre is an extremely talented person and I’m happy he’s being honored,” said Gilbert. “Andre and I have become friends and we are trying to get the word out to the broader community for each other’s business. This will help promote the business bond that we created.”
