American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center (ACSZ) raises funds to support the work of Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. For 112 years the hospital has played an essential role in the life of the city and its uniquely diverse population, providing an exceptional blend of advanced medicine, modern innovation and compassion to all who enter its doors. The 1,000 bed facilities treat more than 835,000 patients a year in its 30 inpatient departments, 70 outpatient units and ER. The Wilf Woman and Infant Center on “Charlie’s Floor” and Shaare Zedek’s (Bikur Cholim) City Center campus welcomed more than 20,000 babies in 2013, making it the most active maternity department in the country and most likely the entire Western world. Other Shaare Zedek “Centers of Excellence” include the Jesselson Heart Center, Jerusalem’s premier cardiac care center, The Weinstock Department of Emergency Medicine on the Fanya Gottesfeld Heller Floor and The Glaubach Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Shaare Zedek serves as a teaching hospital, fully academically affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
