Teaneck TBO 10U Baseball Jumps Out to a 2-0 Start

The fireworks for Teaneck Day started early as the Teaneck TBO 10U baseball defeated Tenafly 17-7 in their second game of the Northeast Bergen All-Stars (NEBAS) fall season. The team started the eight-game regular season last week with a 9-6 victory at home against River Vale and traveled to Tenafly ready to play.

The Teaneck bats came alive in the first inning, scoring 10 runs in their first at bat. The offensive onslaught was highlighted by an inside-the-park grand slam by David Wilbur, an inside-the-park two-run home run by Shai Zaretsky, an RBI triple by Caleb Block, an RBI single by Avi Pasternak and an RBI single by David Siev. Tenafly answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning before Aiden Merkin shut down the rally with a fantastic inning-ending diving catch in center field.

Teaneck added a run in the second inning with a good eye at the plate, generating four walks allowing Pasternak to cross the plate. Teaneck added a 12th run in the fourth inning as Noam Rabbani drove in Pasternak on a ground ball fielder’s choice. Nate Tenzer also added a stolen base in the inning. Ezra Block drove in Merkin on a ground ball fielder’s choice in the fifth inning. Tenafly answered in the bottom of the fifth inning to bring the score to 13-7, entering the final frame.

Teaneck scored their final four runs in the top of the sixth inning to bring the score to 17-7. Gideon Apter crossed the plate after a walk and a Caleb Block double. Wilbur notched his final two RBIs with a hard hit double that drove in Nathan Demby and Gavi Yaros.

Teaneck pitchers put out a great team effort with David Siev getting his second start and recording the win. Strong relief pitching by Pasternak, Caleb Block and closer Wilbur combined for 11 strikeouts. Defensive highlights included catcher Benjamin Chetrit making an inning ending catch of a foul tip.

Teaneck hosts Fort Lee on September 25, at 9:30 a.m. at Phelps Major and would love to have everyone come out to cheer them on!
