Rabbi Larry Rothwachs of Congregation Beth Aaron was excited to announce the recent appointment of Rabbi Ben Zion Feld as assistant rabbi of the shul. “In his role as the rabbinic intern at Beth Aaron for the past two years, Rabbi Feld has served with poise and distinction. His insightful teaching, caring nature, and genuine warmth have already left a positive impact on many.
“We are equally delighted to welcome Dr. Sarah Feld, Rabbi Feld’s wife, to our community. Sarah is a psychologist, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our congregation. Dr. Feld serves as a school psychologist at the Frisch Yeshiva High School. Rabbi and Dr. Feld are the proud parents of three children, and we are confident that their presence will further enrich the fabric of our community.”
Beth Aaron President Moishe B. Singer added his accolades: “We are thrilled to welcome Assistant Rabbi Ben Zion Feld to our community. His profound wisdom and compassionate leadership will undoubtedly enrich our spiritual journey and enhance our congregational life. We are also delighted that Rabbi and Dr. Sarah Feld will allow us to expand our shiurim, classes and programs.”
Rabbi Feld said that his passion for a life in the rabbinate comes from a sense of the privilege to teach and inspire others in a life of Torah. “My interactions with various rabbonim throughout my life, marked by their unwavering commitment to their communities, taught me the transformative impact that a rabbi can have on his community. The opportunity to be there for people with guidance and compassion in all circumstances is a very special zechus.”
Rabbi Feld feels particularly fortunate to have been afforded the great opportunity to learn in Yeshiva University’s Wexner Kollel Elyon, a four-year, immersive, post-semicha learning program led by Rabbi Mordechai Willig and Rabbi Michael Rosensweig. “I have benefited tremendously from these additional years of full-time Torah study, along with the unique opportunity to learn from and be mentored by the greatest Torah personalities of our time.”
Rabbi Feld continued: “I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from Rabbi Rothwachs’ profound wisdom and remarkable pastoral skills. I was a student of his in YU semicha’s rabbinic training Program and am blessed to be continuing that relationship in Beth Aaron. Additionally, I look forward to continuing to foster those relationships that were forged during my time as the intern rabbi at Beth Aaron.”
Alluding to football, Rabbi Feld quipped that as assistant rabbi, “I enjoy the opportunity to play ‘free safety.’ Aside from the regular shiurim and drashos, I am excited to find opportunities to connect with people and create programming that will engage people of all ages, stages and backgrounds.”
Rabbi Rothwachs noted that Rabbi Feld has also been engaged in teaching and mentorship. He has taught Chumash and Gemara at Yeshiva University High School for Boys and served as the head madrich of NCSY Kollel. He was also director of the staff Learning Track at Camp Morasha, demonstrating talent in guiding and inspiring the younger generation. “His involvement in the Masmidim Honors Program during his undergraduate studies and the Bella and Harry Wexner Semikha Honors Program during his semicha studies underscores his passion for Torah.”
The Jewish Link joins in wishing Rabbi Ben Zion and Dr. Sarah Feld and their family much success in their new roles at Congregation Beth Aaron.
