Following Sukkot break, Tenafly Chabad Academy returned with deep concern for the unfolding events in Israel, a place where many friends and family reside. Some classmates and teachers were actively seeking flights back home after the holiday. In an effort to shed light on the situation and provide support, the middle school gathered for an assembly, where they received factual information about the current events in Israel.
Morah Meital and Morah Lisa played a pivotal role in comforting those students who were feeling anxious. Rabbi Shain then shared an essential message—that amidst this crisis in Israel, they have the power to make a positive impact. They can achieve this through tefillah, tzedaka and Torah study. These actions not only strengthen connection with Hashem but also provide further reason for His support and protection for loved ones in Israel.
Middle school students immediately sprang into action. They divided the entire book of Tehilim and dedicated their efforts to finishing the entire book of Tehillim before starting classes for the day. Rabbi Shain also distributed tzedaka, which everyone enthusiastically contributed. Students then focused their learning on Israel throughout the day and after Mincha, middle school boys united in song, proudly singing “Am Yisroel Chai” to demonstrate unwavering support for Israel.
