Tenafly Chabad Academy

Tenafly Chabad Academy’s lower school has been bustling with excitement as students prepare for the joyous festival of Shavuot. The creativity and enthusiasm have resulted in some remarkable projects that truly capture the essence of the holiday.

First grade students have been learning the fascinating story of David Hamelech, as well as all the laws and customs of Shavuot. They have decorated beautiful flowers with all the laws and customs written on them, and created a delicious edible Torah.

In a collaborative effort, second graders engaged in a thought-provoking exercise, brainstorming a list of 50 mitzvot, which they proudly inscribed onto their charming flower vases. This activity deepened their understanding of the counting of the Omer, with each mitzvah corresponding to a day of the 49-day journey (with the 50th being Shavuot). They also took home a booklet brimming with valuable information and divrei Torah.

Third-grade classes, students crafted pinwheel flowers out of beautifully designed booklets filled with insightful information about Shavuot. These charming creations will serve as splendid decorations for their festive Shavuot tables.

Meanwhile, the talented fourth graders embarked on a culinary adventure, bringing the majestic Mount Sinai to life in the form of edible delights. They skillfully adorned a cupcake with luscious green frosting and delicate candy flowers, mirroring the blossoms on Har Sinai. To further recreate the scene, they used pretzels to fashion the fence encircling Har Sinai, and delectable chocolate squares to represent the sacred luchot. These delectable treats not only showcase their culinary skills but also allow them to connect with the significance of Har Sinai in a memorable and delicious way.

Students displayed their Shavuot spirit as well as their creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm through these remarkable projects. These hands-on experiences create lasting memories and a sense of pride.
