The first graders have been exploring each of their five senses. They participated in activities that helped them understand each sense’s specific job. Through a variety of hands on activities, the children completed their very own book about the sense of sight. They also went on a looking and listening walk around the neighborhood. The children identified sights and sounds they noticed. After their walk, the children participated in their first team project. Each group was given a poster representing one of the five senses: hand (touch), ear (hear), eye (sight), nose (smell) or mouth (taste). In groups, they discussed what items and pictures represent the use of one of the senses. Each team then had an opportunity to present their finished project to the class.
