Tenafly Chabad Academy Focuses on Art Education

In art education with Morah Sivan, TCA students learned about Pablo Picasso and cubism. They studied several of his paintings of faces. They then discussed how Picasso made the faces look like they had different perspectives by giving them a fragmented or abstract appearance.

The students then used oil pastels to create their own cubist-style face. Some of them used the technique of oil blending by spreading the colors with their fingers. The faces were then split in half with a Sharpie marker to follow Picasso’s style of showing the person looking straight at you and in profile.
