Tenafly Chabad Academy Holds Colony Recruitment Fair

This week, the fifth grade students at Tenafly Chabad Academy held their annual “Colony Recruitment Fair,” which follows the Social Studies unit on European colonization of North and Central America.

Each student was assigned one of the original 13 colonies and tasked with creating a poster that would encourage settlers to make their homes in that colony. The posters contain information about the colony that each student uncovered through their own independent research, in addition to information from their Social Studies lessons.

Finally, the students invited their schoolmates from the fourth grade to come and learn about the original 13 colonies, ask questions and choose a colony to settle in. The fifth graders also took a few moments to advise the fourth graders on how to work on a large-scale project like this, as the fourth graders will soon be working on a similar project, pertaining to the countries of the world.
