Last week, Tenafly Chabad Academy middle school students worked on a chesed project in response to the devastating tragedy that happened in Pittsburgh. They discussed how it was a dark moment for the Jewish people and the world at large and how the Lubavitcher Rebbe teaches that darkness is the absence of light. In an effort to bring back light into the world and to spread unity and ahavat Yisrael, the students packed Shabbat candles to distribute to all the families of LPS and TCA to light for Shabbat. Four hundred sets of Shabbat candles were packaged and distributed to students, staff and administration. The candle lighting initiative was dedicated in the memory of the 11 souls who were taken from us. May their memories be a blessing.
