Tenafly Chabad Academy Plays ‘Minute to Win It’

In a recent TCA fifth grade STEAM class, the students played a game based on the popular television show “Minute to Win It.” Their STEAM teacher, Morah Estyn Becker, divided the class into two groups—one group was instructed to wait, while the other half was positioned around tables containing bins of LEGO. The builders were instructed to build a lego structure using ten bricks. They then had to fill a cup with a duplicate set of the ten bricks which they used for their structure, race across the room and tag a friend by handing over the cup. That friend would then head to the table, and as quickly as possible, try to match the structure their teammate made. The first team with two identical structures was the winner! After a few rounds, everyone paused to review strategies the winning teams were utilizing in order to be successful, and then played again. This frenetic, fun and exciting challenge encouraged the students to hone their skills in fine motor construction, teamwork and time management.
