In their third biology class of the year, Tenafly Chabad Academy fifth graders explored the characteristics of living and nonliving things by comparing different animals, plants and inanimate objects (such as a toy car and a burning candle). By making observations and collecting data, the students learned what distinguishing characteristics all living things have in common. The children were enamored by the adorable bunny, guinea pig, puppy and fighter fish who came to visit their class for this learning experience. At the end of the day, some students were even able to adopt some of these furry friends and take them home.
