Tenafly Chabad Academy Sponsors Mosaic Workshop in Israel

The parent and student body at Tenafly Chabad Academy have sponsored a heartwarming initiative to support the resilient women of Har Choma, Jerusalem, whose husbands are serving as active reservists in Gaza and Jebelin. For over 500 days, these mothers have shouldered immense responsibilities, balancing one or two jobs, caring for their families and holding on to hope for their husbands’ safe return. The Har Choma community is home to 40,000 Jewish residents, who on the mornings after October 7 found it nearly impossible to create minyanim in their Shuls as all the men were drafted into Miluim to serve in the war.

In a powerful and uplifting evening, Mosaics by Miriam led an interactive workshop where women transformed broken glass into stunning Mezuzot for their homes. This creative process carried a profound therapeutic message: just as shattered glass can be rebuilt into something beautiful, so too can we heal and strengthen ourselves through love, support and care.

The evening was filled with warmth and joy, as the women gathered to celebrate Tu B’Shevat with sweet treats and wine. Amidst the laughter and conversation, they shared heartfelt stories, and took time to disconnect and recharge.

At Tenafly Chabad Academy, in solidarity with these brave women, the students have been reciting the misheberach prayer for the soldiers every morning since October 7. Moreover, they have raised funds to sponsor a therapeutic and enjoyable evening for these remarkable women, providing a much-needed respite from their daily challenges.
