In honor of Chanukah, TCA first and second graders got a visit from Rabbi Grossbaum and the olive oil press. The children got to hold fresh olives, which are very different from the ones you can buy in the grocery store. Then, they cut out the pits and put the olives into a press. It took a lot of work, but they pressed the fresh olives into olive oil. Then, Rabbi Grossbaum taught the children how to make cotton wicks to light the fresh olive oil.
