Tenafly Chabad Middle School Confronts Substance Abuse

Tenafly Chabad Academy seventh and eighth graders were captivated by a two-part presentation organized by Lianne and Etiel Forman, founders of the organization, Communities Confronting Substance Abuse. In the first session, they welcomed Ashley Sudol, from the Bergen County Prevention Coalition, and Lieutenant Mike Perez and Assistant PIO Chris Rosado, from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. They engaged students in a discussion on brain development and the temptations and risks surrounding drugs, alcohol and vaping. In the second presentation, the topic was personalized as students heard from Lianne Forman about her own daughter’s battle with addiction. Yael Wielgus, from Amudim then led a discussion as well as role play sessions on why people use drugs, how to say no to peer pressure and where to turn for help. Thank you to all the presenters for such a meaningful and engaging program.
