We were Eskimos with an Igloo, husky dog and sled, and of course some salmon fish to eat. And it was snowing on our front lawn in Los Angeles, a never-before occurrence, on what turned out to be the coldest day of the year in LA (with rain). This year for Purim we dressed up as characters from Middle-Earth – the setting of Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings epic. My husband was Gandalf (staff and beard included!), one kid was Smaug the dragon, the other two were hobbits (their cloaks had the leaf pins too!) and I was Arwen the elf, with the evenstar necklace and pointy ears.
