I read Sandy Eller’s article (“Heart to Haart: Orthodox Women Strike Back at Netflix Miniseries #ThisIsOrthodox” July 22, 2021) in The Jewish Link about the Netflix series, “My Unorthodox Life.” I and my 26 year old daughter are ba’alot teshuva for 18 years.
I am so fulfilled and proud to have come close to my God and Judaism. In my opinion the family in the Netflix series you referred to has it all backwards. Of course to each their own, however, you have described eloquently the beauty of a Jewish life. My career and a part of my life is in the secular world, but I was truly mortified watching a Jewish woman who could even think to live as she does and no less on television.
I never respond to anything via email but I had to thank you for touching my heart in such a positive manner.
