(BCFL) As we hit the mid-August mark, the Bergen County Flag Football League commissioners Rabbi Avi Rosalimsky and Steve Gutlove ask Bergen County: “Are you ready for some football?” So far the answer has been a resounding yes, with over 350 players enrolled. The league has two new wrinkles for the fall season. On September 1, BCFL will be conducting its first ever preseason combine, so the players can warm up and be evaluated before the teams are built. Additionally, the league has expanded to include a pre-kindergarten and realigned all divisions in the process.
Gutlove shared with The Jewish Link, “We thank Bergen County for issuing us a permit to use the Vince Lombardi Turf Field for a double slot this fall. The second slot allows us to play all of the fall 2024 games on the same field. This not only makes it easier for parents and coaches who have players in multiple divisions. It also allows us to have set times for each division, as follows: pre-k and kindergarten 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.; first and second grades 12 pm. to 2 p.m.; third and fourth grades 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; fifth and sixth grades 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; seventh and eighth grades 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.”
Rabbi Rosalimsky stressed that the divisions are filling up very quickly “some have less than a handful of spots left.” Since the spots will be given on a first come-first served basis, if your son would like to play he is encouraged to sign up today.
