On May 18-20, 2014, the TABC Storm baseball team participated in the 5th annual Columbus Baseball Invitational (CBI). A total of nine yeshiva high schools from across the United States participated in this three-day event. The schedule included a Lag B’ Omer bonfire and barbecue, as well as much baseball and tefillah b’tzibbur. This unique experience allowed the TABC students, as well as the other teams, to participate in a baseball tournament as most other baseball tournaments take place over Shabbat.
The tournament was typical high school style with each game lasting seven innings. TABC played three games and finished in 6th place with a record of 1-2. Game 2 was quite an exciting win as TABC was down 5-1 going into the bottom of the 7th. With two outs and nobody on base, they came from behind to win with a walk-off. The final score was 6-5.
Even with the long bus ride each way, this was an exciting and rewarding experience for the entire team. Special thanks go to coach Norm and assistant coach Jason Katz for their tireless devotion to the team.
