The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Dovi Mirkhani as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The rising fourth grader at Yeshivat Noam earned special recognition for not only being a terrific athlete, but, far more importantly, a great friend and making sure that no one is left out. Moshava Ba’ir Counselor Noah Gutlove told The Jewish Link, “Being a counselor in Dovi’s camp division this summer has been a privilege. Playing against his bunk in sports, he always sticks out not only for his athletic abilities, but for the way he always tries to make sure everyone’s included.”
Dovi, mazel tov on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Who is your role model and why?
My role model is my mom. She takes care of everyone and always supports and encourages me to try new things.
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is football, because I think it has the most action and you need to have a lot of teamwork.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
My greatest sports accomplishment was when I was in flag football and got a full field pick six in a big game.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
My favorite athlete is Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott because he is on my favorite team. And he’s also a great QB.
What is your pregame routine?
I don’t have one yet.
What is your earliest sports memory?
My earliest sports memory was a few years ago in camp. I was playing goalie in soccer and no one could score on me.
What is your favorite sports memory?
My favorite sports memory was when I went to my first baseball game. I got to go on the field and the whole team signed my ball and I got to take pictures with them.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
When I am not playing sports I like to play the drums, watch TV and exercise.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
The best thing to me about being a sports star is having my picture in the newspaper.
