The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Hannah Ashendorf as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The rising sixth grader at Yeshivat Noam bleeds Noam Knights blue and orange. She hopes to follow in the footsteps of her older brother and sister on the Noam Knights basketball team. Hannah told The Jewish Link, “I love my school because all the teachers are so kind to me and my friends!”
Hannah, congrats on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?
My role models are my parents. They taught me to always be kind and not to talk loshon hora. We are a basketball family and my dad taught me how to play basketball. My brother and sister both played on the Noam Knights and I hope to make the team next year. My mom taught me to have good sportsmanship on and off the court and to be kind to everyone around me!
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is basketball. The reason I love it is because me and my friends have to work together as a team to score! Since I am tall I feel like I have an advantage to score and to stuff a lot of people.
What is your pregame routine?
My pregame routine is layups, stretching, passing to my teammates, shooting foul shots and shooting threes! The reason that helps me is because it helps me have good shooting form on the court!
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
My favorite athlete is James Harden because he is an amazing shooter! I love the Rockets and former Rocket James Harden because my dad’s family is from Texas and that’s our family team! Even though James Harden is no longer a Rocket we still cheer on the Rockets.
What is your earliest sports memory?
My earliest sports memory is winning my first MGBL trophy.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
My greatest sports accomplishment is winning games while playing with my friends!
What is your weirdest sports memory?
My weirdest sports memory is getting the ball stuck in the hoop.:) It took a little a while to get the ball down!
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
My favorite things to do while I’m not playing sports are hanging with my friends, watching TV, and doing TikToks.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
The thing I love most about being a Sportstar is being able to be in The Jewish link and showing everyone what I love most!
