The Drink Up Jewish Link Sportstar of the Week: Hillel Jachter

The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Hillel Jachter as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Hillel is a seventh grader at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey (RYNJ) and is an exceptional athlete with amazing midot. When someone on the other team scores he is the first to go over and congratulate them. He is a team player and tries to make opportunities for each of his teammates to shine. This incredible sportsmanship and skill contributed to him and his flag football team going to the championship two years in a row and winning once. When asked about Jachter, Dovid Engel—a beloved member of the RYNJ staff—told The Jewish Link, “Hillel Jachter is proof that the apple does not fall from the tree. He is always ready and willing to help anyone in need. All they have to do is ask. He is the consummate team player.”

Hillel, congrats on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who are your role models and why?

My family for always hyping me up for when I have a sports game and just teaching me how to get better as a player and a person.

What is your favorite sport?

Football because it is the most fun to play and watch.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Scoring a 100 yard touchdown on the first play of my flag football season.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Tyreek Hill since he is the fastest player in the NFL and is just an outstanding player. He makes such spectacular grabs and I would love to be as good as him.

What is your earliest sports memory?

Playing catch in my front yard with my father and to this day we still play in the front yard.

What is your pre-game routine memory?

Mostly stretching, trying to hype up my team, and make sure everyone is pumped and ready to go.

What is your favorite sports memory?

Winning my first ever flag football season thanks to my stellar teammates.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

I was once, during a football game, dancing on the field since a player on the other team was also dancing. My coach then yelled at me to stop dancing on the field which made my mother laugh since she was at the game.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

Hanging out with friends and playing video games.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

It encourages me to continue playing and to keep striving to become even better.
