The Drink Up Jewish Link Sportstar of the Week: Jack Abrahamson

The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Jack Abrahamson as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Jack is an eighth grader at the Yavneh Academy. In addition to collecting the TABC Jr Hockey Sr League championship, Jack picked up a Playoff MVP and First Line All Star awards earlier this month.

When asked about Jack, Yavneh Hockey coach Yaniv Besterman told The Jewish Link: “Without question, Jack is the hardest working person on the team and has really grown into a skilled hockey player and mature leader. Every day he puts in extra work, both on and off the court, because he knows that by doing so, he’s helping the team. He is very committed and loves what he does. He is a great team player; he makes everyone around him better as well.” TABC’s iconic coach Mo Fuchs added, “Jack is an extremely enthusiastic and passionate player who keeps improving his level of play.”

Jack, congrats on the great season and for being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Who is your role model and why?

Hockey. I fell in love with playing it at an early age and haven’t stopped playing since.

What is your pregame routine?

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Probably winning the TABC JR. Hockey championship and being named playoff MVP while going into the playoffs as the seventh seed.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Brooks Koepka because I also have a big passion for golf. My dad and grandfather love golf, so I started watching him when I was young and haven’t stopped since.

What is your favorite sports memory?

Being chosen captain of the Yavneh hockey team because of my leadership and sportsmanship skills.

What is your earliest sports memory?

Playing Teaneck travel soccer and winning the championship.

What is the weirdest sports memory?

Having to play a hockey game with only three players the whole game, and we still came up with the win.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Having fun doing something that I love and showing that hard work pays off.
