The Drink Up Jewish Link Sportstar of the Week: Nachi Schwartz

The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Nachi Schwartz as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Schwartz is a senior at Heichal HaTorah, the ace of their softball team’s pitching rotation and power hitter in the heart of their lineup. Earlier this month, Schwartz helped lead the Heichal varsity basketball team to a Camp Shoresh Tournament championship and was named tournament MVP. Heichal’s Rabbi Avi Epstein told The Jewish Link, “Nachi is a great kid, never loses his cool. Everyone loves him.”

Nachi, congrats on the championship, MVP and for being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Who is your role model and why?

One of my best friends Yaakov Davidovici is my role model for teaching me what it means to work hard not only on the basketball court but in other aspects of my life as well.

What is your pregame routine?

My pregame is getting hyped with my teammates.

My weirdest sports memory was playing a camp playoff game of volleyball on a muddy court in the pouring rain.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite sports memory is playing quarterback with a broken pinky in a championship flag football game.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

I enjoy playing guitar and the vibe at Heichal when not playing sports.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Hands down the best part of being a Sportstar is playing with my friends.
