The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Raizel Littwin as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Littwin is a recent graduate of the Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls and a key contributor for the Ma’ayanot Rapids soccer team that has been a force in the league during her tenure. When asked about Littwin, Coach Marc Zharnest told The Jewish Link “Raizel is both a star both on and off the field, while her season was cut short due to COVID (like many others), Raizel found a way (like always), to make the best of it. Her commitment, smile and leadership are always on display and I am so excited to see what she does next!”
Raizel, mazel tov on your recent graduation and for being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Who is your role model and why?
My role model is my mom. My mom (also known as Mama Littwin) always makes everything fun and is the life of the party. She is always willing to help out anyone in need and I aspire to be like her one day.
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is soccer. I have been playing the game ever since I can remember. I have made so many friends while playing the game and I really enjoy the thrill of scoring a goal.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
My greatest sports accomplishment would have to be winning team MVP my freshman year.
What is your pregame routine?
My pregame routine is my father ties my shoes while we listen to the song “Eye of the Tiger” and talk game strategy. I won’t start a game without my dad tying my shoes. My coaches used to yell at me since I would stall the game for this. I also, with one of my teammates, have a special Gatorade bottle that we take two sips out of before every game.
What is your earliest sports memory?
My earliest sports memory is playing on my first ever soccer team and quitting because I didn’t enjoy it. Who knew 13 years later that playing soccer would be my favorite thing?
What is your favorite sports memory?
My favorite sports memory was getting to play a game at MetLife stadium. It was really special getting to play soccer in a real stadium and I even kicked a field goal before the game.
What is your weirdest sports memory?
My weirdest sports memory would have to be playing against my sister. We go to different schools and are both on our schools soccer teams so when it came time for our schools to play against each other we didn’t know what to do and our parents didn’t know who to go for. At one point I even passed the ball to her because I was so confused.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
When I’m not playing sports I’m hanging out with my friends, siblings and my awesome grandmother Bubs!!
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
My friends being able to cut out this article and put it on their fridge and sem walls.
