The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Shlomo Wenger as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Shlomo is an eighth grader at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey and the starting center for the RYNJ eighth grade Jaguars basketball team. Last week the Jaguars picked up a huge win over the previously undefeated SAR Sting in the last game of the regular season. Shlomo’s team-high 25 points and double digit rebounds led the way and the Jaguars are now poised to make a run in the playoffs. When asked about Shlomo, Jaguars coach Eli Wolk told The Jewish Link, “No one rebounds like Shlomo; He is a beast on the boards. He is the ultimate team player, always doing whatever the team needs of him.” RYNJ middle school boys Principal Rabbi Avi Burnstein told The Jewish Link, “To properly paint a picture of Shlomo is more difficult than guarding him in the paint. The only thing better than Shlomo on the boards is how incredible he is off the court at helping his friends rebound from disappointment and how he’s the absolute MVP when it comes to assisting others.”
