The Hair Grip Brings Comfort and Confidence to Wig and Scarf Wearers

Struggling with wigs or scarves that are unsteady or easily fall off? Well, The Hair Grip’s got you covered! A thin comfort band wraps around your head beneath a wig or scarf, ensuring it will stay firmly in place. Built with a gentle velour fabric, The Hair Grip eliminates the need for combs, clips or pins—meaning fewer bald spots and headaches. The product is perfect for women—and men—who are dealing with chemotherapy treatments or alopecia, or even just looking for something to add more stability to their head coverings. The Hair Grip is built to help busy people have one less thing to worry about, and the company is excited to share the comfort of this product with those who need it.

The Hair Grip was created in 2011 and is run and managed by husband and wife duo Estee and Avi Brick, parents to 7-year-old Benny and 4-year-old Sophia. The spark for its creation began when Estee’s grandmother unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer and started to lose her hair due to chemotherapy treatments. Seeing her grandmother struggle with her wig and noting how the wig’s clips wouldn’t grip to the thin hair she had left, Estee started researching. She found comfort band products, and began adding enhancements, after which she started manufacturing them in order to help other people in similar situations.

Estee elaborated on The Hair Grip and discussed what the product means to her. “The Hair Grip was built to make wig and scarf wearing easier and more comfortable,” she shared. “The feedback we’ve heard is that it’s really given people more confidence to not just walk down the street without worrying about their wigs falling off, but to also feel good about themselves. I’ve even been told that it’s helped women start dating because they were more confident that their wigs weren’t going to fall off. Stories like that are what make the product so meaningful, and I’m very passionate about helping as many people as I can with it.”

The Hair Grip is a comfort band that comes in tan, gray, black and brown. Not only does it grip even silk scarves, but it grips to skin, which is great for those who are undergoing chemotherapy or dealing with alopecia. Without stretching, it’s 23 inches in length, and includes a velcro extension—so one size literally fits all. It is sold in over 180 stores across the world, including Canada, England, New Zealand and Brazil, among others.

For Estee, the positive reaction has been overwhelming and rewarding. As she sees it, what sets her product apart is the emphasis that was put into its quality. “When we were starting, we really wanted to make [The Hair Grip] the best it could be.” she said. “We wanted it to be strong and effective. One of the enhancements we made was double stitching, which makes for a stronger grip. Also, unlike other comfort bands, the label is on the inside instead of the outside, which really makes for a different look.”

When it comes to Estee’s advice for others looking to become entrepreneurs, she said, “I did my research: I read books, listened to podcasts and really put in the work so that I knew what I was getting into. If it’s something you want to do, go for it, but I’d also say: Do some research and really learn the ins and outs of the market. And I also can’t stress the importance of a motivated mindset. It can be a frustrating road at first, but with time you will start to see results.”

Estee is working on expanding the company’s offerings, including other items in association with comfort bands. The Hair Grip is available for purchase globally from participating vendors and online via their website, thehairgrip.com, where you can also learn more about the product. They have an ongoing promotion where if you order two at once, you can get the third at half price.
